Student to Leadership Development Program

ASRT program for affiliate student members to meet, explore, and discover their state and national affiliates for Radiologic Technologists.

What will the Student to Leadership Development Program do for me?

Participants Receive:

  • Airfare, housing, a stipend for meals and other travel expenses to the ASRT House of Delegates Meeting 2025 and Educational Symposium

  • An educational program designed just for students.

  • A professional mentor assigned for the meeting and mentoring throughout the 3-year program

  • An insider’s look into the largest association for medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals

  • An opportunity to work closely with OSRT board members, joining the committees that spark passion for the profession

  • An opportunity to attend and volunteer at the 2025 OSRT Annual Meeting & Conference in Hood River, OR

Eligibility:

  • Must be a student member of the ASRT and OSRT at time of submission.

  • Must be a current student in an Oregon based medical imaging or radiation therapy program

What is the Student to Leadership Development Program?

The ASRT Student to Leadership Development Program is a three-year program that offers students a chance to get to know the ASRT and OSRT, attend educational sessions, and network with medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals. Selected participants attend the 2026 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance TBA.​

Applicants apply through the ASRT website and here at the OSRT website.

Applications are current closed until November 2025 and participants will be notified no later than January 2026.  Information and correspondence from ASRT will begin in January 2026.  Usually two student OSRT members will be selected to participate.

What do program participants do in their 3-year committment?

On the national level, Participants are assigned a mentor through the ASRT that acts as a guide, career coach, and sounding board for radiologic science students. The ASRT also provides a structured program focusing on education, adovcacy, and more with SLDP participants from all over the country. 

​

On the state level, the Student Action Committee is the source for all things student at the OSRT and you'll have a prime spot on the committee! One of their major projects is planning and running the fun Friday Night Event at the annual meeting. From deciding on a theme, to making games and decorations, to hosting an epic party, the Friday Night Event wouldn't be possible without our student members.

On a personal level, SLDP participants get individualized mentorship and guidance from OSRT board members to help them understand the state affiliate society. SLDP participants go on to great things within the affiliate, just look at these Alumni:

How to Apply

Submit a 500-750 word essay responding to the following prompts:

Describe previous experiences where you have demonstrated leadership capabilities. How would you grow professionally from your participation in the Student to Leadership Development Program?If selected, how do you plan on giving back to the OSRT?

 

Have your program director submit a letter of recommendation

which includes a statement that you have their approval to attend the 2026 ASRT Educational Symposium and Annual Governance and House of Delegates Meeting TBA.

This does not guarantee your spot in the program, but skipping this step could disqualify you. You must be an ASRT member to qualify.All required materials are to be submitted directly to the OSRT by TBA 2025 to osrtoffice@oregonsrt.org
